Community Council Meetings are always held on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the library (Except for Nov and Dec and that will be the 3rd Wednesday). The public is welcome to attend.
Dear Patrons of Rock Canyon Elementary,
This year the State of Utah will distribute approximately $30,000.00 to Rock Canyon Elementary School. The funds are generated from the interest gained on state owned lands dedicated to help public education. It is called the School Land Trust program, or Trustlands. Our Community Council is made up of members of our community and employees from our school. The Council’s responsibility is to evaluate the areas where the funding would be spent the best to help in student achievement.
If you ever wish to contact any of our council members, or want to attend any of our meetings, you are welcome to do so.
Listed below are our Community Council members for 2013 – 2014:

WE NEED YOUR BOXTOPS!!!
Click on above logo to see Running Totals and Tally Sheets
After lots of hard work and support from you we made our goal of 30,000 Box Tops. We turned in 29,961 Box Tops this year and we earned another 40 Box Tops from e Box Tops, when your parents bought stuff on line through Box Tops.
After a very long hard and close race we have the winners for this month’s collections. We had some very creative ways to get our Box Tops this month which are legal under the current rules. We are so happy that every one worked hard and supported this program. This year’s earning helped buy books for our library and new technology for the school – promethean boards and computers etc. In the past Box Tops money has bought playground equipment. So we are very happy that all of you helped our school and wanted to give you a great big Thank you and please support Box Tops next year.
So here are the winning classes after lots of hard work:
4th Place won by 36 Box Tops goes to Mrs. McKee/Paxman class with 224 Box Tops for May.
The special collections Box goes to Mrs. Lee Class for May.
We had a real upset for the trophy and crown this month
The trophy for the Most Box tops for the Month of May goes to Mrs. Spilker’s Class with 533 Box Tops.
The Crown has a new winner by 317 Box Tops for the Most Box Tops brought in for the year goes to Mrs. Harrington’s class with a year total of 3,624 Box Tops.
Thank you again for all the support of Box Tops to help our school.
Please save and collect those Box Tops through the summer and turn them into our school in August. Next collection date will be September 26, 2014.
Have a great summer and Thank you!

Thank you to Mary Ann Howard and Julie Schonlau for a successful PACE essay contest! Students wrote on the topics of caring, friendship and honesty and it was wonderful to hear the winners read their essays this week. We have great students who are having wonderful experiences developing these character traits. Thank you also to the many people who helped judge all the essays.
Our SEP Conferences are next week--March 19-22. Pizza Pie Cafe has agreed to hold another fundraiser for our school and give us 25% back of all money spent during that week by Rock Canyon families. Please consider eating there as a family Monday, March 18 through Thursday, March 21. Watch for a card to come home that you can take with you--or just tell them you are with Rock Canyon. This could be a fun way to celebrate your children and a job well done at school!
We have 8 weeks left till the Extravaganza! Watch for more information to come soon and please consider how you would like to help. If every family volunteers one hour, it all adds up to a fun-filled evening for everyone! If you already know where you would like to help, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or Sarah Banks at email@example.com. We appreciate all that our Rock Canyon families do to make this such a great event!
