"Caring in the Family ~ If you would be loved, love and be lovable."
Benjamin Franklin

This is a reminder to all parents, especially those with students entering 7th grade in Fall of 2008.
•A dose of Td (tetanus) is required for all students entering 7th Grade.
•A dose of Varicella (chicken pox) is required for all students entering 7th Grade (unless your child has had the chicken pox disease, in which case a parent’s signature is required on the child’s immunization record).
This MUST be done to start school. It is unavoidable. Once the vaccines are obtained, please bring this information to your child’s 6th grade school.
Laurel Apgood, School Nurse
As of May 1, students will no longer be able to charge a breakfast or lunch meal. Please make sure that your student has sufficient money in his/her account or send a home lunch with your student. This will help avoid the situation of having to deny a student a meal. Thank you for your cooperation.
Mrs. Sears—Lunch Secretary
Please let the office know if you are moving and will not be attending Rock Canyon next year.
Be sure to check out our Lost and Found collection before the school year is over. Any items left behind will be donated to charity.
Bake Sale Volunteers are needed to donate baked goods. Please contact Libbi Jeppesen at 377-8167 if you can help out. This is an easy, great way to help out if you are unable to help at the booths that night.
Face Painting In order to make our Extravaganza a success, we need lots of parental support. We are in need of 10 - 15 volunteer face-painters to help out in our face painting booth. We are looking for anyone who is willing (mothers, fathers, or teenagers). You do not need to be a great artist and we will provide all the supplies. All you do is show up and help make our extravaganza evening fun for all. Please contact Jen Hansen 374-8896 or Hillary Ross 375-0152.

Fun Run will be held Friday, May 2nd at 9:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to join the fun! Contact Angie Baxter (370-0913) if you have any questions or if you’d like to volunteer. Parents are welcome to participate with their child.

Important School Phone Numbers:

All chess club members are invited to join us for the last 4 weeks of chess club!
The first round of our CHESS TOURNAMENT will be on April 30th during chess club hour (3:00 – 3:45 p.m.). There will be one round of tournament play per week. If you would like to participate but need to miss one of the rounds, call Mary Elizabeth to receive a half point bye for that round.
May 21st will be our final chess club meeting for the year. We will announce winners and have a PARTY. We hope that everyone who has participated in chess club during the year will join us.
Please call Mary Elizabeth Christensen (812-1234) if you have any questions or if you are a non-chess club member who would like to participate.
Please continue bringing your Box Tops to class. Our FINAL collection for the year will take place Monday, May 19th. Start searching your cupboards and drawers for those lost stashes of Box Tops and get them turned in, NOW!!!
Remember not to watch any TV over the weekend--it's only a couple more days--you can do it!!
Send back the parent-signed pledge form on Monday or Tuesday and your child can redeem it for a free book. We will be at the redemption tables in front of the school both Monday and Tuesday after morning kindergarten, at 2:00 for early out 1st graders, and at 3:00 for all others.
We hope you've had many cool, delightful experiences with the extra time your families have had.
Bright Idea: Spring is in the air and we all want to get out and enjoy the warm weather. With a little extra pre-picnic planning, you can add some extra pizzazz to your picnic by taking it from ordinary to extraordinary!
• Remember you can have a picnic almost anywhere. Be creative! Think of out of the ordinary places to picnic such as in a car or pickup truck bed, on a balcony, under your kitchen table (small children would love this), in front of your fireplace, in a tent in your backyard, etc. If you have an indoor picnic, set out some houseplants to give added "atmosphere."
• Create a picnic bin or basket that is kept filled with the essentials so you can grab it and go whenever you want a spur of the moment picnic. Have kids paint and decorate the bin or basket if desired. Keep a checklist in your bin or basket so items can always be replaced as needed and ready to go.
• Have a picnic around a theme. Choose location, food, décor and other items around the theme. A picnic could also have a color theme for example - a pink picnic with everything pink.
• Use some artificial turf as a picnic table covering. This can be purchased by the yard inexpensively at a home improvement center.
