The mission of Rock Canyon Elementary School, where excellence is valued, is to assist all individuals in developing their full potential to be productive and happy within our dynamic society.
“None is so great that he needs no help, and none so small that he cannot give it."
-- King Solomon

Community Council Meetings are always held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the library. The public is welcome to attend.
Each year ProvoREADS! encourages families and individuals to read and discuss a common book to promote literacy and a sense of community. The selection for this year is A Long Way from Chicago, by Richard Peck.
This is a very funny book, a "novel of stories", about two children of the 1930s who visit their unforgettable grandmother in rural Illinois. Grandma Dowdel is quite a character, and your family will really enjoy spending some autumn evenings reading this book aloud.
Child identification kits and fingerprinting of Rock Canyon students will be available during SEP’s March 16-19, between 1:30 pm and 5:00 p.m. This service is thanks to Christopher Wilkinson for his Eagle Scout project promoting child safety and security.
There will also be a few gun locks available to parents who would like to secure their firearms. Look for the tables that will be set up.
If you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2010, please join us on Friday, March 26th for Kindergarten Registration. Please bring with you:
If you are unable to attend registration, contact the office.
All Rock Canyon students are invited to join our chess team for the Utah State Elementary Chess Championships, Saturday, March 20th, 8:15 a.m. at the University of Utah. $10 registration fee if registered by March 13.
For information and on-line registrations, please go to www.clarkwork.com/utahchess.
The Provo Association for Gifted Children will hold their parent meeting on April 15. More details will be forthcoming. Visit www.provoagc.org for information.
It is that time of the year again!! Time to get ready for that exciting night that we all love - the EXTRAVAGANZA!! It will be Friday May 14th from 4:30-7:30pm.
We need your help!! We ask that each family donate at least an hour of time that night helping with games or serving food. This year we will have Fun Services providing the games. So if you help, you will only be running the game! We hope this helps take away some of the stress of volunteering. Also, prizes will be given out with each game - no redemption booth!! We are confident in these changes and hope they make for an enjoyable night for everyone.
**Please sign up outside your students’ classrooms during SEPS on the paper provided to help with Games, Food and Theme Baskets. You’re not volunteering to be in charge, you’re only volunteering to help!!

WE NEED YOUR BOXTOPS!!!
Congratulations to Mrs. Harrington’s class on turning in the most Box Tops. Her class will be rewarded with a class party!!! Keep bringing in Box Tops and help your class win the next class party. The results for this collection period are below:
1st - Harrington, 984
2nd - Brown, 508
3rd - Havican/Robinson, 390
As a school we collected 5,400 BoxTops during the November – February time period. This is $540 towards our new space net. *If each class brought in 300 BoxTops by the end of May, then our school would receive another $700 dollars this school year* Let’s work together by talking to grandparents, neighbors, friends, etc.. so we can collect more Box Tops.
Thanks for all the GREAT WORK!!!
The BoxTops Crew!
