Introductions were made
SCC training video was watched and discussed
Officers were elected:
Chair - Lisa Dahl
Vice Chair - Ammie Davidson
Secretary - Lydia McInnis
Issues were identified:
*School safety routes - We discussed a student (on a bicycle) that was hit by a car trying to get out onto the road with regular speed traffic.
It was proposed that if the road 2320 was posted as a school zone since there are 2 schools on this road the traffic would move at a slower pace making it more safe to pull out. Also if there were speed bumps to encourage a safe movement of traffic on 2320 this could help with the safety of the students. Also if there were another couple of crossing guards that could help the children make it to school safely crossing 2320 this would improve the safety of the students.
*Math help - IPP for math is needed. The current program is good but doesn't cover all areas of learning the teachers need in the higher grades. It was proposed that we do a pilot program using Excel Math since we are using Excel reading program we wouldn't have to pay the $1000.00 user fee. It was proposed that we continue to look and investigate other math programs as well and come to the next meeting with more information.
*Digital Citizenship - an assembly for the school will be held to address good digital etiquette.
Principal Hansen is getting a map through power school so we can continue to find solutions for safe travel to and from school for our students.
