Dear Parents/Guardians:
Thank you for your support of Rock Canyon's
school
lunch program and for another great year! If you are unsure of your child's current lunch balance, please feel
free to have your child ask me during lunchtime for that information.
The school year is quickly coming to a close..
Starting Tuesday, May 7th, charging school meals will no longer
be allowed through the end of the year. Students who do not
have sufficient funds, will not be allowed to eat school
breakfast or lunch. Please make arrangements to either prepay
their accounts, or send them with a home lunch.
Sincerely, Mrs. Sears, Lunch
Secretary
Lunch Menus:
Just a reminder, that our students’ school lunches at $1.75 are subsidized. If parents or other siblings wish to eat lunch at Rock Canyon, the cost is $2.75. Thank you!
The children are still doing testing between now and the middle-ish of May. Please send them to school with a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast. Also, please try and make sure they are at school every day! If you are going on a little vacation, maybe you could check with your child's teacher and see when their class will be testing. It's so important for them to be at school and be able to do their best on these tests!

LOST & FOUND
The Lost & Found is still overflowing! With only one month of school left, take a second to claim your missing jackets, hats, gloves, coats, etc.
We ask that all parents contact Rock Canyon School as soon as possible when your child is absent. Please call our Absence Line (801-812-8675) and leave a recorded message with the following information:

Dear Patrons of Rock Canyon Elementary,
This year the State of Utah will distribute approximately $30,000.00 to Rock Canyon Elementary School. The funds are generated from the interest gained on state owned lands dedicated to help public education. It is called the School Land Trust program, or Trustlands. Our Community Council is made up of members of our community and employees from our school. The Council’s responsibility is to evaluate the areas where the funding would be spent the best to help in student achievement.
If you ever wish to contact any of our council members, or want to attend any of our meetings, you are welcome to do so.
Listed below are our Community Council members for 2012 – 2013:

Thank you to Mary Ann Howard and Julie Schonlau for a successful PACE essay contest! Students wrote on the topics of caring, friendship and honesty and it was wonderful to hear the winners read their essays this week. We have great students who are having wonderful experiences developing these character traits. Thank you also to the many people who helped judge all the essays.
Our SEP Conferences are next week--March 19-22. Pizza Pie Cafe has agreed to hold another fundraiser for our school and give us 25% back of all money spent during that week by Rock Canyon families. Please consider eating there as a family Monday, March 18 through Thursday, March 21. Watch for a card to come home that you can take with you--or just tell them you are with Rock Canyon. This could be a fun way to celebrate your children and a job well done at school!
We have 8 weeks left till the Extravaganza! Watch for more information to come soon and please consider how you would like to help. If every family volunteers one hour, it all adds up to a fun-filled evening for everyone! If you already know where you would like to help, please contact me at darajakins@gmail.com or Sarah Banks at sarahbanks930@hotmail.com. We appreciate all that our Rock Canyon families do to make this such a great event!
